When the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link (ShenZhong Link) opens, the travel time between Zhongshan and Shenzhen will be greatly shortened from two hours to 30 minutes. Zhongshan will usher in new opportunities for development.
As a local electronic components manufacturer in Zhongshan, Paul Jolley, CEO of Cooka (Zhongshan) Technology Co., Ltd., told GDToday that his company is taking advantage of this moment to further support the development of the downstream supply chain and accelerate industrial upgrading.
Better supply to downstream manufacturers
The opening of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link not only brings more logistical convenience to Zhongshan, but also provides a broader development space for high-tech industries such as Cooka Technology.
According to Jolley, the opening of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link will further optimize the company's supply chain, reduce logistical costs, and help improve the market competitiveness of products.
"We're very up in the supply chain. It means we can supply our downstream much easier with the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link opening," said Jolley.
He added that since most of his company's potential customers and products are located in Shenzhen, the convenient logistics channel can bring great benefits to the company. "It's very good for us that we can keep the cost down on delivery." In the next step, he will lead his team to actively respond to this change and promote the optimization and upgrading of the supply chain by strengthening cooperation with Shenzhen and other regions.
Moreover, Jolley understands that as an electronic components manufacturer, the quality and performance of Cooka's products are directly related to the stability and competitiveness of the downstream supply chain.
For example, he and his team developed a potentiometer, or variable resistor, based on a carbon-based paste material. "We've developed the technology to bring 20 million life cycles, which makes it a military-grade product. It can be used for years and years," he said.
"We're one of the only manufacturers in Guangdong that can do so small with such high technology." This innovation has made Cooka Technology's products a high-end choice in the market, winning the favor of domestic and foreign customers.
Industry upgrade in plan along with the opening of mega infrastructure
The opening of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link also brings new opportunities for Zhongshan's industrial upgrading. In Jolley's view, as the Chinese government continues to invest in and open up mega infrastructure projects, he expects broad possibilities for industrial upgrading.
Over the past few years, Jolley has successfully brought Cooka Technology to the international stage. He mentioned that the company's largest market remains China, but they will also seek opportunities to cooperate with manufacturers around the world in the future.
In this regard, the opening of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link will undoubtedly help the company's international development. "Now with the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link opening for international travel, it makes it very convenient for me to travel to Shenzhen and then internationally," said he.
Jolley firmly believes that with the continuous progress of technology and market expansion, Cooka Technology is expected to achieve a greater leap in the next few years. And he has a plan for industrial upgrading, including increasing investment in research and development, expanding international markets, and optimizing supply chain management.
"In light of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link, we want to expand from being a component manufacturer to a prototype manufacturer," said Jolley. "If we can make something so small and high-end, it's easy for us with our capabilities to manufacture anything."
As a British entrepreneur who has been living in China for more than 20 years, Jolley has led the successful development of Cooka Technology in China with his deep insights into the Chinese market and his persistent pursuit of technology. He has great interest in China's innovation and marvels at the rapid development of China's innovation industry over the years. "I've seen it go from just being manufacturers to now increasingly more innovation."
At the end of the interview, Jolley also stressed his great confidence in the future development of supply chain innovation in Guangdong. "Now we've got the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link, we're in the best place in Guangdong to be living and working. I think in 5 years, Zhongshan will increase and increase."
