Global kids in Nanshan, Shenzhen: A colorful “Little Earth Village”

What makes Shenzhen's Nanshan district a happy home for its young international residents? On the eve of Children's Day, a GDToday reporter spoke with five children from around the globe living and studying in Nanshan, capturing their vibrant perspectives on life in this dynamic hub.

For six-year-old Lian from Israel, Nanshan is a kaleidoscope of experiences. "I think Nanshan is like a rainbow because it has so many different colors, just like the colors of the world's rainbow," she shared.

Twelve-year-old Gerald Genson from France offered a more adventurous metaphor. "Nanshan is like a sea turtle to me," he explained, "because it can swim anywhere in the world."

As Children's Day approached, the children revealed delightfully imaginative wishes. Fatima Nosherwan and Gul E Zara from Pakistan both dreamt of superpowers. "I wish I could fly to every place in the world," said Fatima. Gul added, "I wish I could teleport anywhere!"

Carter Williams, an American boy born in China, aspired to master invisibility and fire resistance—simply "because it's just cool," he grinned.

The heartwarming segment concluded with the children whispering special messages to Nanshan in their native tongues—English, French, Hebrew, Hindi, and Chinese. Check out the video to hear their heartwarming multilingual secrets!
