On June 18th, a press conference in Guangzhou highlighted the preparations for the 15th National Games (NG), the 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities (NGD) and the 9th National Special Olympic Games (NSOG) of China, emphasizing several record-breaking achievements.
This is the first edition of the Games jointly hosted by Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, with around 36,000 athletes competing—far exceeding the number at the 2024 Paris Olympics. There will be 57 major events in the 15th National Games, and 46 in the 12th NGD and the 9th NSOG. Besides, a total of 23 mass participation events are being held, including dragon boat racing and lion dancing, promoting widespread public involvement.

A record 19 cities will host the events across 105 venues, with 90% upgraded from existing facilities, minimizing new constructions and exemplifying frugal hosting. The Games are also carrying out a slew of green measures to reduce carbon emissions, setting new benchmarks for sustainable architecture. Advanced technologies enhance the Games' organization and spectator experience, making the competitions more intelligent and engaging.

This edition of the Games is a comprehensive showcase of athleticism, green philosophy, technology, and culture, offering an unprecedented sporting feast for all.
