In China, not all drifting happens on a racetrack—sometimes, it happens on a dragon boat！As the Dragon Boat Festival approaches, teams competing in the FAW-Volkswagen T6 · 2026 China (Foshan) Diejiao Dragon Boat Drift Race are intensifying their night training sessions in preparation for the main event, which will take place from June 19 to 22. The competition is jointly organized by Foshan Media Tourism Group and the Diebei and Dienan Communities of Guicheng Subdistrict, Nanhai District.

Watching a 25-meter-long dragon boat drift at high speed through waterways only 3 to 8 meters wide is a breathtaking experience. The boats skim past the riverbanks and execute sharp turns with remarkable precision, prompting Patrick to exclaim: "This is even more exciting than Formula 1!"
最让吴雨翔印象深刻的，是船队全员同心聚力、并肩拼搏的模样。“刚来的时候大家都是陌生人，训练完了大家都变成朋友。”吴雨翔坦言，队员们的热情和包容也是他来中国以后一直感受到的。
What impressed Patrick the most was the team's spirit of unity and determination." When I first arrived, everyone was a stranger. After training, everyone became friends." The rivers in Diejiao Nanhai Foshan have the typical features of a Lingnan water town, winding and varying in width. The narrowest parts just allow only two dragon boats to pass side by side.
