At the end of August, the "2024 Maritime Guangdong Young Director Support Program" (Maritime Guangdong Program) is kicking off its selected projects. Young directors and their crews are heading to various locations in Guangdong, Hong Kong, China, and Macao, China. The town stories that have passed through multiple rounds of selection are about to be brought to life.

The Maritime Guangdong Program launched and hosted by the Yangcheng Evening News Group in 2023, is a major talent support initiative aimed at discovering, nurturing, and selecting outstanding young Chinese directors at home and abroad. The 2024 Maritime Guangdong Program focuses on the theme of "Backflow", encouraging young filmmakers to use Chinese towns as new visual landmarks, with the goal of presenting a more diverse and localized expression of Chinese films to the world.

The young directors of the 2024 Maritime Guangdong Program have already selected their favorite filming locations in Macao SAR, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Foshan, Qingyuan, Jiangmen, Zhanjiang, Jieyang, Shantou and other cities. Through their lenses, more hidden gems across Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao will be uncovered and showcased. The unique cultural and natural landscapes of the Lingnan region will also gain broader exposure with the release and screening of the Maritime Guangdong Program shorts.

8月底，2024“向山海走去”青年导演创作扶持计划（以下简称山海计划）入选项目陆续开机。青年导演们带领剧组奔赴粤港澳各地，经过层层选拔而来的小镇故事即将逐一显影。

山海计划是由羊城晚报报业集团于2023年发起并主办，对海内外优秀华人青年导演进行挖掘、孵化、选拔和培养的大型人才扶持活动。2024山海计划以“回到小镇”为创作主题，希冀青年电影人以中国小镇作为全新影像地标进行创作，让华语电影面向世界的表达拥有更加多元和在地的呈现。

澳门、广州、深圳、佛山、清远、江门、湛江、揭阳、汕头……2024山海计划的青年导演们早早就选好了各自的心水取景地。透过他们的镜头，遍及粤港澳的更多新鲜宝藏地将得以发掘和展示。岭南地区独有的人文和自然风光也将随着山海计划短片的问世和放映，进入更广阔的观看视野。
