GUANGZHOU, June 8 (Xinhua) — China’s Guangdong Province registered 19 locally transmitted confirmed COVID-19 cases on Monday, the provincial health commission said Tuesday.
Fourteen of the confirmed cases were reported in the provincial capital Guangzhou, three in Shenzhen, one in Foshan and one in Zhanjiang, the commission said.
The province also reported three imported confirmed cases and nine imported asymptomatic ones.
The latest COVID-19 resurgence in the southern manufacturing heartland of Guangdong started in May, with most cases reported in cities of Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Foshan.
Meanwhile, Guangzhou lists all venues local COVID-19 cases have been]Residents who have traveled to high-risk, medium-risk areas and key venues, or have been exposed to positive cases and their sub-contacts, are required to report to the community or workplace immediately, take two nucleic acid tests in three days and cooperate with epidemiological investigations, according to Guangzhou Municipal Health Commission.
Guangzhou had reported a total of 98 locally transmitted cases from May 21 to June 6, including 84 confirmed cases and 14 asymptomatic carriers.
All the cases are under treatment and quarantine at the Guangzhou No.8 People’s Hospital.
