City Life | The #Chikan Overseas #Chinese Ancient Town is located in the central part of Kaiping, #Jiangmen, along the banks of the Tanjiang River. With a history of 370 years since its port opening and market establishment, the town was gradually developed by the Guan Clan of Shangbu and the Situ Clan of Xiabu, who settled at the eastern and western ends of the town. The area boasts over 600 #Qilou, making it the largest, most continuous, and best-preserved cluster of Qilou complexes in #China. In 2007, Chikan was recognized as a National Historic and Cultural Town.

In recent years, Jiangmen has focused on preserving and revitalizing Chikan's #architecture, maintaining its historical charm while promoting and celebrating overseas Chinese #culture. Today, visitors can explore the century-old Qilou, immerse themselves in local cultural stories, and gain a deeper understanding of the rich cultural background of overseas Chinese in China. #citylife

赤坎华侨古镇位于江门开平中部潭江河畔，拥有370年开埠建墟历史，由上埠关氏、下埠司徒氏在古镇东西两端聚居逐步发展而成。当地拥有600多座骑楼，组成了全国规模最大、界面最连续、保存最完整的侨乡骑楼建筑群，于2007年被评为中国历史文化名镇。

近年来，江门通过对赤坎华侨古镇建筑进行保护与活化利用，延续古镇历史风貌，传承和弘扬华侨文化。如今游客穿越百年骑楼，通过了解赤坎在地文化故事,读懂历史浮沉，更加了解中国的华侨文化。
